Kizomba dance

Kizomba is considered a harmonious and sensual couple dance. Kizomba consists of five different basic steps and is usually danced very closely with the partner in the area of the upper body, with the pelvis moving away from that of the partner for better mobility. There are no figures in Kizomba compared to other dance styles, but the dance style shows similarities with Tango Argentino in terms of positions and posture . Therefore, Kizomba is sometimes called the "Afrotango" by Central Europeans. Often Kizomba is referred to as "inner dance art", whereby a so-called energy flow should arise between the two partners.

music

Due to its great popularity, Kizomba is sung by many Luso-African artists. Well-known interpreters from Angola are Caló Pascoal , Don Kikas , Eduardo Paím, Irmãos Verdades and Matias Damásio. Also Paulinha is one of the most famous performers of Angola. The Kizomba of São Tomé and Príncipe is very similar to the Angolan, well-known performers are Juka and Haylton Dias .

The Cape Verdean Zouk (with the musical genres Ghetto Zouk , Cabo Love and Colá-Zouk) is often confused with Kizomba. It differs from Kizomba in the use of Creole instead of Portuguese , mostly a slow tempo of 90–100 bpm and a predominantly romantic mood. Cape Verdean zouk is partly influenced by Coladeira .
