Paulus Freudenlechner

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Paulus Freudenlechner († 1616 ) was an important master singer of the 16th century .

Very little is known about his person, neither his year of birth nor his place of birth, nor what profession he practiced. It is most likely that he was a merchant or schoolmaster.

But we know that he worked in the singing school in Wels from around 1549 . He remained there until 1601, left the city because of the threat Protestant persecution of Wroclaw . He did not return to Eferding until 1603, presumably to found a singing school there.
