Pavle Vujčić

Pavle Vujčić (born July 13, 1953 in Belgrade , Yugoslavia ; † July 28, 2017 in Santo Domingo , Dominican Republic ) was a Yugoslav or Serbian violinist who lived in the Dominican Republic since 1983.

Life

Vujčić began his musical education at the age of six and studied violin at the Belgrade Art Academy. From 1972 to 1983 he was a soloist with the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra and the Camerata Música Humana, as well as a member of the Yugoslav Radio and TV Orchestra. In 1983 Jacinto Gimbernard engaged him for the Dominican Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional , whose concertmaster he became in 1985.

In 1989 he won the Premio Casandra with the Trio Amadeus he founded , and another Premio Casandra in 1991 as classical instrumentalist of the year. In the 1990s he founded the Camerata Solistas de Santo Domingo with Carlos Piantini , and in 2001 the Cuarteto de Cuerdas Gabriel del Orbe with Militza Iankova , Zvezdana de Tabar and Pablo Polanco . He performed as a duo with the violinist and violist Zvezdana Radojković . Vujčić worked as a professor at the Escuela Elemental Elila Mena and at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música .
