Pax Imperia: Die Sternenkolonie (English original title: Pax Imperia: Eminent Domain ) is an American real-time strategy game by Heliotrope Studios from 1997 and successor to the 1992 round strategy game Pax Imperia .
description
In Pax Imperia: The Star Colony, race, size of the galaxy and spaceship design can be adjusted to suit your own preferences. You can choose from a total of eight races. Technologies such as laser weapons and protective shields need to be researched, space fleets to be built up, and space colonies to be founded, expanded and protected from raids. The administration of the colonies can be automated. The colonies can be expanded and fortified in stages. The space battles are fought in real time . The player is free to build a star empire through peaceful colonization or conquest.
In contrast to the previous game, you can only travel to other star systems via wormholes . These wormholes or jump points form a real transport network through space. Different atmospheres prevail on the planets , which not every race can inhabit and thus colonize.
In terms of its structure and game mechanics, the game is based on Master of Orion 2 from 1996.
Development history
In 1995, Blizzard Entertainment announced in collaboration with Changeling Software (later renamed Heliotrope Studios) that they were working together on a sequel to the 1992 round strategy game Pax Imperia , which should be available around Christmas for the PC and Macintosh . For strategic market reasons, however, Blizzard Entertainment did not want to create internal competition for their science fiction title StarCraft , so the rights were sold to THQ in August 1996 . THQ, in turn, hired Heliotrope Studios to complete the game. In 1997 Pax Imperia 2 was published as Pax Imperia: Eminent Domain for the PC and Macintosh.
In 2013, the rights to Pax Imperia were acquired from the Swedish publisher Nordic Games as part of the break-up of THQ, along with other titles .
