Payton Crossley (* around 1959) is an American modern jazz musician ( drums ) .

Live and act

Crossley took lessons from Alan Dawson between the ages of 14 and 18 . From 1979 to 1982 he was part of the Ahmad Jamal trio ( Live at Bubba’s , 1980). Since the early 1990s he worked in the American jazz scene a. a. with Jimmy Scott , John Basile ( The Desmond Project , 1996) and Onaje Allan Gumbs , as well as accompanying singers Mercy Monet, Christy Baron and Carri Coltrane. Since the late 1990s he has been a regular member of Ron Carter's bands , to be heard on evenings such as Orfeo (Blue Note, 1999), Dear Miles (2006) and Jazz & Bossa (2008). According to Tom Lord , he was involved in 18 recording sessions in the field of jazz between 1980 and 2012, most recently with Lou Caputo & Chris White.
