Pear Island ( English for pear island ) is a small island in the Palmer Archipelago west of the Antarctic Peninsula . It belongs to a group of three islands in the east of Hackapike Bay off the northeast coast of Anvers Island . The other two are False Island and Head Island .
The island first appeared on a 1929 British hydrographic map. It probably got its descriptive name, first found on maps from 1952, as an allusion to its shape.
