Pedra do Sino

The Pedra do Sino ( bell rock ) is 2,275 meters (older sources give even 2263 on) the highest mountain in the national park of Serra dos Órgãos ( organ pipes Mountains ) and the city of Teresópolis within the Serra do Mar in Brazil .

The mountain, two kilometers north of Dedo de Deus as the crow flies , is a destination for hikers and climbers with different sporting ambitions. Its valleys and rocks are impressive and various viewing platforms offer an overview of the entire region. The conditions for climbing in winter are better because of the lower rainfall and lower temperatures.

The 12 km long ascent offers four protected resting places. The first and second are small caves and the third is in a clearing that has space for a few tents. The fourth "Abrigo" ( umbrella ) was renovated a few years ago, it is a small hut; Tents can also be set up here. This station is almost 2000 meters high and ten minutes from the mountain top.
