Pedro Araújo (born July 2, 1993 in San Cristóbal , Dominican Republic ) is a Dominican baseball player in Major League Baseball (MLB). He plays as a pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles . He made his MLB debut on March 31, 2018.

Career

Chicago Cubs

Araújo signed as a free agent with the Chicago Cubs . He spent most of the 2017 season with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans in the High-A Carolina League and also made brief appearances for the Tennessee Smokies in the Double-AA Southern League. Araújo achieved an earned run average (ERA) of 1.76 with 87 strikeouts in 66 2⁄3 innings .

Baltimore Orioles

The Orioles selected Araújo from the Chicago Cubs organization in Rule 5 Draft 2017. He made it into the 25-player circle of the Orioles on the opening day of the MLB and made his debut in the Major League on March 31, 2018. On April 3 In 2019, Araujo was removed from the Majore League roster after Matt Wotherspoon was promoted . Araujo was returned to the Chicago Cubs on April 5th. On the same day Araujo was exchanged for international pool money to the Orioles. Since then he has played for various minor league teams in the Orioles organization.
