Pedro Romero (born April 12, 1937 ), also known by the nickname El Bucky , is a retired Mexican soccer player who played in defense or in defensive midfield .

Life

society

His professional career probably began at Club León , from which he moved to Deportivo Toluca FC in 1958 . Whether "Bucky" Romero was part of the winning team at Club León, which won the Copa México in the 1957/58 season, is incomprehensible due to the limited sources. What is certain is that from then on he was under contract with Toluca and won the championship of the 1966/67 season with this club . After finishing his professional career, he played in the most important amateur and leisure league of the capital district , the Liga Española de Fútbol .

One of the highlights of his career was the participation in the team of Club Necaxa , which won 4: 3 on February 2, 1961 in an international friendly tournament against Pelés FC Santos .

National team

Although "El Bucky" Romero was part of the Mexican World Cup squad in 1962 , he was not used in the World Cup itself or in any other game of the Mexican national team and was therefore without an international appearance.

  1. Since Romero did not participate in the Supercup finals against Atlas de Guadalajara in the following season 1967/68 nor is listed in the Tolucas championship of the same season, it can be assumed that he ended his professional career at the end of the 1966/67 season. However, he could also have been a substitute or a long-term injury.
