The Peerless Lake ( English for "incomparable lake") is a lake in the central north of the Canadian province of Alberta .

The 16.6 km long and maximum 9.5 km wide lake has an area of ​​82.6 km². It is located 10 km northwest of Graham Lake within the Municipal District Opportunity No. 17 at an altitude of 687 meters above sea level. The eponymous settlement Peerless Lake , which has about 280 inhabitants, is located on the northeastern shore of the lake. While the southern part of the lake is relatively shallow, the depth increases to the north, so that the Peerless Lake reaches a maximum depth of 35.4 meters. There is a small island near the eastern shore of the lake.

Inflow into the lake is mainly via an unnamed stream ( creek ) from the northwestern Goodfish Lake and through precipitation. The Peerless Lake drains via an also unnamed creek into Graham Lake, from where the water flows over the Trout River and the Wabasca River into the Peace River .

Species of fish found in Peerless Lake are American char , pike , American perch , herring vendace , American whitefish , Alaskan sucker , burbot , Notropis hudsonius (Spottail shiner) and Catostomus commersonii (white sucker). The Peerless Lake is popular with anglers, the most important sport fish is the American char. The lake is also fished for herring whitefish by locals and commercially.

Peerless Lake got its name because of the incomparable beauty of its water, which its namesake felt. He gives the name to the tribe of the Peerless Trout First Nation living there .
