Peine Island (in Argentina Islote Peine , in the United Kingdom Comb Island , in each case translated appropriately Ridge Island ) is an island off the northern tip of the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located west of Beagle Island in the group of Danger Islands southeast of Joinville Island .
The island was given its descriptive name in 1978 by the Ministry of Defense of Argentina. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names transferred this designation in 1993 in a partial translation into English. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee decided on the naming, however, as early as 1980 to have a full translation.
