Hugo Knappworst

Hugo Knappworst (born November 16, 1919 in Bemerode ; † June 26, 2005 in Hanover ) was a German bricklayer , civil engineer and entrepreneur , collector and local researcher .

Life

After graduating from school, Hugo Knappworst initially completed an apprenticeship as a bricklayer before studying civil engineering at the state building school there in Holzminden .

Towards the end of the Second World War , Knappworst took over the Meyer & Knappworst construction company, which had been a family business since 1900 .

From 1964 until Bemerode was incorporated into the state capital Hanover in 1974, Hugo Knappworst was a member of the Bemerode council. From 1974 to 1976 he was a member of the City Council of Hanover. Hugo Knappworst also appeared in various devices, such as in the Chamber Hannover or Innungskrankenkasse .

On his own initiative, Knappworst collected and secures numerous objects from the past, especially around Bemerode, above all historical equipment and documents that he presented to visitors in a small, privately run museum of local history .

At the suggestion of the Kirchrode-Bemerode-Wülferode district council , the city ​​administration of Hanover recommended the path in Bemerode on the Kronsberg parallel to the Honerkamp and Hellenkamp streets, which "begins in the north on Wülferoder Straße and leads to the southern observation hill in Parc Agricole" , to be named as Hugo-Knappworst-Weg. The merits of the personality should also be emphasized by separately attached legend signs with the text "Hugo Knappworst (1919–2005) / Heimatforscher in Bemerode".
