The Peintner family is an old Tyrolean dynasty who were raised to the nobility in 1609 and various branches to knighthood in 1698, 1707 and 1742. The Bohemian-Austrian noble family of the Peithner von Lichtenfels also descended from them.

history

The family was an old Pustertal dynasty that distinguished itself several times in military and national service. On November 4, 1609 gave Archduke Maximilian of Austria in Innsbruck brothers Augustin and Andrew and their cousins Peter and Bartholomew Peintner from the reign Rodenegg a noble coat of arms along with jewel associated with it was the fief ability. The coat of arms referred to the so-called "Hirschenhof" formerly "Mändlgut" in Vill, which Andreas Peintner had acquired around 1600. The property remained until the death of Maria geb. Peintner owned by the family in 1823 and was auctioned in 1843.

On December 16, 1642 founded Christian Peintner d. Ä., "Hirschenwirt" in Vill and later innkeeper in Niedervintl " to the help and consolation of his deceased father Andre Peintner on Rodenegg and his relatives" an eternal annual mass in March. He left 100 florins to the parish church of Rodeneck for this purpose. He sealed the relevant document himself.

Christian Peintner the Elder J., son of Christian Peintner the Elder. Ä., Was ennobled in 1707 with the title "von Trojensbach" by Kaspar Ignaz Graf von Künigl , Prince-Bishop of Brixen . The predicate referred to the previously named "Küchenmairhof" in Niedervintl, which he acquired in 1704 and which was elevated to a noble seat.

A legend reports about his son Anton von Peintner, postman, lawyer and customs administrator in Niedervintl, that shortly before his death he should have expressed the wish to be represented as a warning model in the ceiling painting of "his" new church as a miserable beggar at the feet of the papal throne . Around 1760, the wealthy postal operator enabled the construction of a second church building in Niedervintl by providing funds of 4,000 florins and the necessary land.

The wealthy innkeeper Jakob Peintner the Elder is considered to be the progenitor of the family branch in Innichen . Ä., Probably the eldest son of Christian Peintner the Elder. Ä. In 1659 he had acquired the "Grauer Bär" inn in Innichen from his brother-in-law, whose family had owned it since the middle of the 16th century. In its time it was considered the most elegant inn in the Puster Valley. His sons from his second marriage, Johann and Joseph Peintner, also ran the Gasthaus zum "Schwarzen Adler". Joseph later held the office of chapter administrator at the local canon monastery in Innichen.

On March 26, 1698, another son, Jakob Peintner the Elder, was born. J., since 1677 government secretary in Innsbruck , raised to the nobility with the title "von Peintner". His son-in-law Christoph Jakob von Hafner, municipal syndic of Meran , was also given the title "zu Puechenegg and Peintner" and was granted permission to combine the Peintner coat of arms with his own.

On July 5, 1742 Joseph Anton Peintner, Protect captain and Urbar bailiff in San Candido, other sources also called Anton Josef Franz Peintner, possibly son of Joseph Peintner, with the title "of Peintner to Sternfeld" of Empress Maria Theresa in the kingdom knighthood raised. On this occasion his family coat of arms was changed in some points. His tombstone is at the entrance to the nave of the San Candido collegiate church .
