The Metro Station Pelleport is an underground station of Line 3 to the Paris Métro . It is the least frequented of the stations in both directions of travel on the Metro network.

location

The station is located on the border of the Quartier du Père-Lachaise with the Quartier Saint-Fargeau in the 20th arrondissement of Paris . It is located lengthways under Avenue Gambetta at its intersection with Rue Pelleport.

Surname

The name gives the Rue Pelleport. Pierre de Pelleport (1773–1855) was a division general , especially during the Restoration . He was seriously wounded in the battle of Prussian Eylau .

History and description

On November 27, 1921, the station went into operation with the opening of line 3 . At that time it ran from Porte de Champerret to Porte des Lilas . In 1971 the route of line 3 was changed, since then it has been running from Gambetta to Gallieni . In this context, the section from Gambetta to Porte des Lilas became an independent line 3 bis on April 2, 1971 .

Under an elliptical , white tiled vault, the 75 m long station has side platforms on two parallel tracks. Their side walls follow the curvature of the ellipse. It is one of the few stations that has an access building. Its construction was necessary because the deep station next to the staircase received elevators.

Initially, Sprague-Thomson trains were on the route , and they ran there until 1967. In that year, Line 3 was the first to receive the new MF 67 series, which runs classically on steel rails . These trains are still in use on Line 3 until 2017, but have been shortened to the length of three cars.
