The Penal Bay ( English ; Russian Бухта Пенал Buchta Penal ) is a bay on the Knox coast of the East Antarctic Wilkesland . In the Bunger Oasis area, it lies west of the Edisto Canal and is bounded to the south by Currituck Island , to the west by the Shackleton Ice Shelf and to the north by Dieglman Island .
Scientists on a Soviet Antarctic expedition mapped and named it in 1956. The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia transcribed this name into English.
