The Edisto Canal is a strait with a northeast-southwest orientation off the Knox coast of the East Antarctic Wilkesland . It runs between the Taylor Islands and the northwestern islands of the Highjump Archipelago on the west side and the Bunger Hills , Thomas Island and the other islands of the Highjump Archipelago in the east. The southern part of the canal is occupied by the Edisto glacier tongue .
It was mapped using aerial photographs taken by the United States Navy during Operation Highjump (1946–1947). The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1955, like the glacier tongue of the same name, after the USCGC Edisto , one of the ships in Operation Highjump.
