Pendrin a is ion channel , the apical in thyrocytes located and by the sodium-iodide symporter recorded iodide in the colloidal space of Schilddrüsenfollikels passes. Pendrin can also be detected in the proximal part of Henle's loop of the nephron. Here it exchanges chloride ions for formate in the antiport on the luminal membrane. Thus it plays a decisive role in the transmembrane chloride absorption.
In addition to iodide, Pendrin can also transport sulfate and chloride .
