Penelope A. Mountjoy

Penelope-Anne Mountjoy FSA (* 20th century) is a British Classical Archaeologist .

Mountjoy graduated in Classical Studies at the University of Bristol with a BA from (Honors). She then obtained an M.Phil. from the University of London and finally a Ph.D. again at Bristol University.

She is a member of the British School at Athens and the School of Archeology at Oxford University as a Visiting Research Fellow. She was Scholar in Residence at Queens University , Kingston , Canada , and held visiting professorships at the Universities of Mannheim , Tübingen and a Mercator Professorship at the University of Frankfurt am Main . She held the Glassman Holland Fellowship at the Albright Institute of Archaeological Research in Jerusalem . Mountjoy is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London .

Mountjoy has participated in excavations in Myrtos , Knossos , Mycenae , Pyrgos ( Crete ), Paphos ( Cyprus ) and Troy ( Asia Minor ). She has extensive experience as an archaeological draftsman in the field of vase painting .

She is currently working on post-palace ceramics ( Late Helladic IIIC: 1200–1050 BC) from Cyprus, Turkey and Israel .
