Penta West
The Penta-West is a natural gas pipeline in the Upper Austrian Innviertel . It runs from Oberkappel to Überackern near Burghausen on the German-Austrian border and creates a connection between the Bavarian high-pressure natural gas network and one of the international natural gas main routes, the West Austria gas pipeline . It crosses the Danube between Kramesau and Ronthal (Engelhartszell) . Gas Connect Austria is the builder and operator of Penta-West . The line is 95 km long, the steel pipes have a nominal diameter of 700 mm and is operated at a nominal pressure of 70 bar. Penta-West was inaugurated on March 2, 2000. Since 2011 there has been a compressor station in Neustift near Oberkappel with three electrically operated centrifugal compressors. This also made bidirectional operation of the line possible. The original direction of transport since commissioning has been from Austria to Germany.
