Peppe Consolmagno (* 1958 in Rimini ) is an Italian percussionist who is active in the field of jazz and world music .

Consolmagno played his improvisations inspired by Brazilian, African and Asian music at jazz and world music festivals such as Umbria Jazz , the Festival International de Jazz in Montreal, the Jazz o Brazil in Paris, the Stegliz Art Department in Berlin, at the Drum 2000 Percussion Festival in Bologna, the Festival di Musica da Camera in Tolentino, the World Music Festival , the 5th World Music Festival in Rome, the Festival Musica dei Popoli in Florence, the Festival I suoni delle Dolomiti , the Festival Internazionale di Sousse in Tunisia and the Festival Banlieues Bleues near Paris .

In addition to original African and Asian instruments, he primarily plays self-made percussion instruments made of calabashes , bamboo, wood and metal. He also built instruments for musicians such as Naná Vasconcelos , Cyro Baptista , Trilok Gurtu , Glen Velez , Flora Purim , Duduka da Fonseca and Paolo Vinaccia . He writes articles for numerous Italian journals for jazz and world music and gives seminars and workshops for non-European music.

In addition, he is also involved in multimedia projects and the incorporation of theater, painting, sculpture, lyric poetry and dance, and has worked on radio and television productions.
