Per-Inge Walfridsson (born September 1, 1950 in Torsby ) is a Swedish car sportsman and was a rally and rallycross driver. He belongs to the Walfridsson family .

Life

Per-Inge, the trio's storebror (or big brother), is married to Inga-Lill and they have four children together; the two daughters Pernilla and Linda (who was also Pernilla's rally co-driver for a short time) and the two sons Joakim and Jonathan. He lives in his native Torsby and is now an engineer in charge of the Walfridssonche civil engineering company NIWA .

At the very beginning of his career, his wife Inga-Lill also supported her Per-Inge from time to time as a rally co-driver. “Pi” was a Volvo factory driver (e.g. in the Volvo R-Team ) and semi-factory driver for a number of years and was considered the legitimate successor of the famous rally driver Tom Trana , Volvo's “counterpart” to Saab's legendary Erik Carlsson "På Taket" ("Carlsson on the roof" because Saab drivers at the time relatively often "put their cars on the roof" during rallies).

His most important international successes in motor racing are likely to be winning the 1980 FIA European Rallycross Championship (on a Volvo 343 Turbo) and fourth place in the 1973 RAC rally (on a Volvo 142S, behind the Ford trio Timo Mäkinen, Roger Clark and Markku Alén and before Renault-Alpine star Jean-Pierre Nicolas). In addition, he finished 6th and 10th overall at the RAC , won the 1975 Star Roof Of Africa and secured two Swedish Rallycross Championships (1977 and 1979).
