Per Christiansen

Per Christiansen (born October 26, 1949 in Larvik ) in the province of Vestfold is a Norwegian lawyer, university professor and judge at the EFTA Court . He teaches EU and EEA law at Tromsø University .

University education

Per Christiansen obtained the official Norwegian title Candidatus Juris ( cand.jur. , Title similar to the Master's ) at the University of Oslo in 1976 .

In 1988 he received his doctorate in law , also at the University of Oslo with a thesis on Norwegian monetary law ( Norsk pengerett: en Fremdstilling av de offentligrettslige regler om penger og pengesystemet ).

2005 to 2006 followed a supplementary education (Fulbright Scholar) at George Washington University in Washington, DC

activity

Per Christiansen worked as in-house counsel at Norges Bank from 1976 to 1982 and in the Ministry of Finance from 1982 to 1985 (Head of Division, since 1984 as Deputy Director). From 1985 to 1986 he was Senior Secretary on the Board of Governors of Norges Bank. 1986 to 1988 worked again in the Ministry of Finance. From 1988 to 1994 he worked as a lawyer for the Norwegian Mission to the European Community in Brussels and from 1994 to 1995 again at the Ministry of Finance in Norway. From 1995 to 1998 he was Registrar (Registrar) at the EFTA Court of Justice in Luxembourg . In 1998 he moved to PricewaterhouseCoopers as a lawyer. From 1997 to 2011 he was professor for EU and EEA law at the University of Tromsø (2003 to 2007 as part of a Jean Monnet professorship). Since January 17, 2011, he has been a judge at the EFTA Court of Justice ( Norwegian : EFTA-domstolen ) instead of Henrik Bull .
