Percussion Creativ eV is a non-profit association founded as a network for German-speaking drummers and percussionists based in Freiburg im Breisgau . Its declared aim is to promote music for percussion instruments and their performers through exchange, networking and encounters, regardless of their stylistic orientation. history

Hermann Schwander founded the "Association for the Promotion and Maintenance of Percussion" in Nuremberg in 1986 in order to create a forum for the exchange of views and encounters and to have an official provider for financing, donations and grants. In addition to Hermann Schwander, the founding members were the director of the Nuremberg Meistersinger Conservatory Wolfgang Graetschel, Hans-Günter Brodmann , Tilo Heider, Sandor, the marimist Mari Honda and Renate Schwander. During a conference on December 11, 1986 at the Bavarian Music Academy in Hammelburg, “Percussion Creativ” was chosen as the new name for the association. Werner Thärichen , a former principal timpanist with the Berliner Philharmoniker , has been elected the association's first president.

activities

From the beginning it was a main concern of the association to organize a large symposium at which all directions of percussion should be represented. The most important advanced training event since the mid-1990s has been the Teacher Days, which take place every two years and to which well-known lecturers are invited. The club offers courses, advanced training, competitions, a sheet music archive and data collections. There is a club website and the club magazine Offbeat. In addition, the association cooperates with relevant publishers, instrument manufacturers and important associations (e.g. German Music Council ). It can therefore offer its members discounts.
