Johannes Fischer (drummer)
Johannes Fischer (* 1981 in Leonberg ) is a German drummer and composer .
Life
At the age of nine, Johannes Fischer received his first drum and piano lessons. From 1998 to 2000 he was a scholarship holder of the Jürgen Ponto Foundation.
He completed his percussion studies at the Freiburg University of Music with Bernhard Wulff , Taijiro Miyazaki and Pascal Pons . In addition, studies in conducting and composition with Francis Travis and Dieter Mack followed . In 2004 he was awarded the Märkische Stipendium for Music . In 2003/2004 he was invited to the Lucerne Festival Academy under the direction of Pierre Boulez , and in 2007 he received a scholarship from the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben and a Gerd Bucerius grant from the ZEIT Foundation .
In 2007 he was artist in residence with Steven Schick in San Diego .
Since 2006 he has been teaching at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano / Switzerland. In 2009 he was appointed professor at the Lübeck University of Music .
Musical creation
His repertoire includes works from the 20th and 21st centuries, including the composers Globokar , Stockhausen , Ferneyhough , Boulez , Mack , Berio , Kagel , Xenakis , Carter , Feldman , Lachenmann , NA Huber , Cage , Lucier , Aperghis , Reich , Takemitsu . In addition, he also deals with improvisation, electronic instruments and unusual instrument inventions, such as B. the sound sculptures by the Karlsruhe artist Klaus Gündchen.
He performs as a soloist and chamber musician, mainly with the eardrum percussion duo, the Freiburg drum ensemble, the duoApeiron (flute & percussion). Johannes Fischer tours to festivals in Europe, Asia and America. His works have been performed in Germany, Switzerland, Ukraine, the USA and Korea. Composition commissions from the Crested Butte Music Festival, the Lucerne Festival Academy, the Louvre Paris in cooperation with the Lucerne Festival and for 2009 from the Young Sound Forum in Central Europe .

Awards
- 2003 - 2nd prize at the International Günter Bialas Composition Prize in Munich
- 2006 - 1st prize at the German University Competition and prize of the music competition of the Kulturkreis der Deutschen Wirtschaft with the “eardrum percussion duo”
- 2007 - Winner of the German Music Competition and 1st Prize, Audience Award, as well as three other special prizes at the 56th International Music Competition of ARD Munich .
