The Junge Klangforum Mitte Europa ( Young Sound Forum of Central Europe ) is a trinational European youth orchestra made up of young musicians from Poland , the Czech Republic and Germany .

The aim of the Junge Klangforum Mitte Europa is to revive the cultural landscape of the three countries Poland , the Czech Republic and Germany . The orchestra unites the young musicians of the three nations in concerts at historically significant locations. In addition to the classical repertoire, Junge Klangforum Mitte Europa has also dedicated itself to new music in order to perform pieces by composers who were ostracized during the Nazi era. The orchestra wants to make a musical contribution to reconciliation and international understanding between Poland, the Czech Republic and Germany.

history

The orchestra was founded in 2002 by the conductor Christoph Altstaedt and the cultural manager Holger Simon. Simon was also the orchestra's director from 2002 to 2007.

This ensemble initially consisted of former members of the Federal Youth Orchestra and initially performed under the name “Young German Sound Forum.” After a joint project with young Czech musicians in Terezín , the idea of ​​a long-term musical partnership between the two nations arose. On the initiative of Richard von Weizsäcker , the Junge Klangforum Mitte Europa was founded.

The orchestra's patrons are Richard von Weizsäcker, Lech Wałęsa and Václav Havel .

The orchestra was awarded the Praemium Imperiale 2004, the Marion Dönhoff Prize 2005 and the European Youth Orchestra Prize 2006 for its musical achievements and contributions to international understanding in Europe .

The artistic director is Christoph Altstaedt. Guest conductors were u. a. Krzysztof Penderecki , Sebastian Weigle and Tang Muhai . Concert tours took the Junge Klangforum Mitte Europa through Europe and to Japan .
