Pere Gussinyé i Gironella , often also called Pere Gussinyé for short , (* 1890 in Olot , † 1980 in Olot) was an Impressionist Catalan landscape and portrait painter who followed the tradition of the Olot School .

Gussinyé received his training as a painter with Josep Berga i Boix and in Barcelona at the Academia Mallol and in the artist group Cercle Artístic de Sant Lluc . He has participated in numerous exhibitions in the Catalan countries and Spain, as well as in group exhibitions in South America. His painting is influenced by impressionism . Gussinyé experienced pre-war painting by the old masters of the Olot school such as Berga i Boix. Gussinyé had a deep knowledge of Olot's painting school, which he himself had never attended. He lived through the decline and suppression of art and culture during and after the Spanish Civil War . Despite everything, his entire work (including his late work in particular) exudes a non-conformist youthfulness and liveliness.

Gussinyé is seen in his work as the painter who represents a synthesis of a century of painting in Olot. For this reason, the city of Olot erected a monument to him in 1982 with the bronze sculpture Pere Gussinyé by Joan Ferrés i Curós . Gussinyé has achieved artistic universality through a thoroughly honest, self-responsible localism. In his local art he opens up the universal dimension of any outstanding art. Gussinyé creatively developed Olot's landscape painting during his creative period. In his portrait painting he brought the human figure to the point artistically as well as the landscape around Olot in his very own subject.
