Pere d'Artés

Pere d'Artés (14th – 15th centuries) was a Valencian nobleman and courtier . He was the landlord of Alfafara . He bought this manor from the Orís family on December 9, 1392. His son and grandson inherited it until it was sold to the king of Aragon.

He held important offices at the court of King John I of Aragon : councilor, chamberlain , treasurer, etc. a. He was the king's agent in the matter of his marriage to Violante von Bar in Paris . He also belonged to the court of Martin of Aragon . The latter appointed him executor in 1407.

He was a lifelong patron . Francesc Eiximenis dedicated the Llibre dels àngels (Book of Angels) to him in 1392. He also caused Eiximenis to write the Vida de Jesucrist (Life of Jesus Christ) (1403?) In Catalan rather than Latin . According to the introduction, this book is also dedicated to him. In 1406 Antoni Canals dedicated the Catalan translation of the Exposicions del Pater Noster, Ave Maria i Salve (interpretations of the Our Father, Ave Maria and Salve Regina) to him.

He directed the construction work on the royal palace of Valencia , where he had the angel room set up for himself . He was buried in his family's chapel, which he founded in the Carthusian monastery of Porta Coeli .
