Peren is a city in the Indian state of Nagaland .
The city is the capital of the Peren district . Peren has the status of a Town Committee . The city is divided into 9 wards . On the cut-off date of the 2011 census it had 5084 inhabitants, of whom 2538 were men and 2546 women. Christians make up the majority of the city's population with a share of over 91%. Hindus form a minority of over 6%. The literacy rate in 2011 was 88.3%, well above the national average. 86.7% belong to the Scheduled Tribes .
