Peres lake
The Pereser See is a planned artificial lake south of Leipzig . It is to be created by flooding the Peres field of the United Schleenhain opencast mine . The open pit is located immediately northeast of Groitzsch , about ten kilometers northwest of Borna and twenty kilometers south of Leipzig. The flooding is planned between the years 2045 and 2051.
The lake becomes part of the so-called Leipziger Neuseenland , a post-mining landscape with several flooded open-cast mine holes. It is planned as a landscape lake with water-bound local recreation in the area of the places Kieritzsch and Groitzsch.
