The Persian bee ( Apis mellifera meda ) is a subspecies of the western honeybees native to Iran , the Iraqi mountainous region and southeastern Anatolia .

Apis mellifera meda is a very yellow, medium-sized subspecies that resembles Apis mellifera ligustica in many features . According to Ruttner's morphological classification , the subspecies belongs to the group of Middle Eastern bee races.
