Lifters (cars)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Personnel lifters on a motor vehicle are used to lift a physically disabled person from a wheelchair into a car and vice versa. There are manually operated and electrically operated products.

construction

Between the vehicle floor and the dashboard , a support column is installed on the inside, on which the lifter equipment can be swiveled. In another version, the lifting mechanism is attached to a roof rack on the outside of the vehicle door and covered with a cloth cover when not in use.

The lifter equipment has an extendable lifting arm that can be swiveled laterally and vertically, on which a one or two-part cloth seat hangs on a bracket . Raising and lowering is done by an electric motor that is fed by the car battery .

The lifting devices are installed by special companies for adapting vehicles for physically handicapped people .

use

To transfer the wheelchair , which is mostly used by people with severe mobility impairments , the cloth seat is pushed under and hung in the intended manner on the hook of the lowered seat bracket. The lifting device can be operated by the vehicle user himself or - if necessary - by an attendant. The lift is controlled via a manual switch on a flexible spiral cable, sideways movements are made by swiveling by hand. In the case of purely hand-operated devices, the lift took place via a hydraulic system with a hand pump lever.

The lifting device can remain in place in the vehicle while driving or it can be stowed in the trunk . With some devices, the lifting device can be switched on and off alternately on the car or in the apartment, e.g. B. use in the bathroom.

Alternatives

The task of a passenger car hoist to move a highly mobility-impaired person in and out of a car can also be performed by other aids:

  • Swivel seats with different additional functions such as lifting / lowering and screwing in / out into the deep on the doorstep.
  • The Carony wheelchair system, in which the seat and the person sitting in it can be pushed from the wheelchair chassis onto a special seat console with swivel mechanism.
  • Light vehicles that are specially designed to accommodate the wheelchair with the driver sitting in it.
