The village is on the St 2055 road, about two kilometers north of Rott.

Pessenhausen is first mentioned in a document in 1130 as Pasinhusen , the name probably comes from the proper name Paso.
The village belonged to the Klosterhofmark Wessobrunn , in 1752 four properties are mentioned.
