The 13.5 hectare Pestalozzipark in the Gesundbrunnen district in Halle (Saale) , Saxony-Anhalt, is used for recreation and provides a connection to the neighboring Südstadt district . The park is 850 meters long and an average width of 60 meters.

Emergence

The park was created in 1926–1931 by the garden architect Franz Mengel in connection with the construction of the Gesundbrunnen garden suburb . In the 1970s and 2001 the park was expanded towards the south of the city. A nature trail , another dog meadow and numerous path connections were created.

use

The park is mainly used for recreation and also as a meeting place for young people. Designated areas have been approved by the city of Halle for use as a barbecue area and as a dog meadow. There are playgrounds, football / streetball courts and a skateboarding facility for children and young people .

Events

Every year the free park festival takes place in the Pestalozzipark. It is financed by sponsors and donations. The surrounding shops participate by setting up so-called donation boxes, so that citizens can support the organizers of the Park Festival. There are various activities for children and a stage program for adults. A final fireworks display ends the mostly two-day festival weekend.
