Peta (* before 1964 ; † 1978 ) was the first female Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office .

As Chief Mouser

After Peter III's death in 1964, Peta became the new mouse hunter at No. Downing Street. 10 . In 1969, Peta was supposed to be released because she was so lazy. But then Prime Minister Harold Wilson kept her in office for fear of public backlash . Instead he used another support, the cat Wilberforce .

While Wilberforce continued to be a mouse hunter, Peta was taken to a country estate outside London in 1976, where she died in 1978.
