Sybil (cat)

Sybil (* 2006 in London , England ; † July 27, 2009 in ibid) was a female cat who carried the title of Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office between 2007 and 2008 . The black and white cat belonged to Chancellor of the Exchequer Alistair Darling and was named after the character Sybil Fawlty from Fawlty Towers .

The official appointment contradicts the statement in the article Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office , according to which only two cats have officially received the title.

On September 11, 2007 , the official appointment of Sybil as Chief Mouser took place through Gordon Brown's spokesman. Before that, after Humphrey's resignation, there was no Chief Mouser for ten years; Sybil is the tenth Chief Mouser overall.

In early 2009 Sybil was brought to Edinburgh , Scotland . Rumors circulated that Gordon Brown didn't like her. On July 27 of the same year, Sybil died at the age of only 3 years.
