Freya (born April 2009 ) is a cat who served as Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office under Prime Minister David Cameron between 2012 and 2014 .

background

The tabby cat Freya belongs to the British Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne and his family.

In 2009, when Freya was only a few months old, she disappeared from the family's Notting Hill property . After an extensive search, the family gave up hope. In June 2012, however, Frances Osborne, the wife of the Chancellor of the Exchequer, found the cat. She then moved back to the family at 11 Downing Street .

Freya as a mouse hunter

In 2012, David Cameron fired the chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office , the tomcat Larry , and replaced him with Freya because of his laziness. However, it turned out that the situation had not improved, so Cameron let Larry continue to serve. Together they are now both the "chief mouse hunters of the cabinet". In November 2014 , Freya was sent to Kent by George Osborne from Downing Street . The exact background is unclear.
