Petar Christoskov

Petar Christoskow (also written Petar Hristoskov , Bulgarian Петър Христосков ; born March 8, 1917 in Sofia ; † June 19, 2006 ibid) was a Bulgarian composer , violinist and music teacher.

Christoskow studied violin at the State Music Academy with Sascha Popow and was a member of the Royal Symphony Orchestra during this time. From 1940 to 1943 he specialized in violin and chamber music at the Berlin Music Academy with Gustav Havemann and Hans Mahlke . He also gave successful concerts in Berlin, Munich, Vienna and Salzburg.

After his return to Bulgaria he became concertmaster of the Sofia Symphony Orchestra, continued his career as a violin soloist and became a member of the trio of Dimitar Nenow and Konstantin Popow . After Nenow's death in 1953, he worked in a duo with his wife, the pianist Zlatka Arnaudova . Since 1945 he has taught at the State Music Academy in Sofia, in 1950 he was awarded the title of professor.

Christoskow began his career as a composer in 1952. He composed a. a. a vocalise for soprano, alto and symphony orchestra, a triple concerto for piano, violin and cello, a double concerto for violin and cello, a piano, a violin and a cello concerto, a suite for string orchestra and various chamber music works.
