Peter Andreas Heiberg

Peter Andreas Heiberg (born November 16, 1758 in Vordingborg , † April 30, 1841 in Paris ) was a Danish satirist .

Life

Peter Andreas studied philology in Copenhagen . After completing his studies, he published Rigsdaler-Sedlens Hændelser (Experiences of a Reichstalerschein) and thus began his uncompromising accusations against the nobility and bourgeoisie.

His satirical struggles with absolutism were only intensified by the French Revolution . Heiberg fought against feudalism literarily with songs, singing games and political pamphlets.

After several legal proceedings, Heiberg was expelled from Denmark in 1800 because of his political stance. He went to Paris and from then on worked as an interpreter for France .

Peter Andreas Heiberg was the father of Johan Ludvig Heiberg .
