Peter Carp

Peter Carp (* 1955 in Stuttgart ) is a German theater director and theater director .

Life

Peter Carp grew up in Hamburg and studied theater studies , journalism , art history and medicine in Hamburg and West Berlin . From 1986 to 1989 he worked as a dramaturge at the Free Volksbühne in West Berlin with Hans Neuenfels . From 1990 to 2004 Carp worked as a freelance director on various German-speaking stages. In 2004 he became acting director at the Lucerne Theater . From 2008 he was director of the Oberhausen Theater , which he left prematurely in 2017 to move to the Freiburg City Theater , a three-division theater , as general director . In August 2020 it became known that the Freiburg municipal council had decided to extend his contract as director of the Freiburg Theater for a further three years until 2025.

The dramaturge Stefanie Carp is his younger sister.
