Peter Eberhard

Peter Eberhard (born March 15, 1966 in Stuttgart ) is a German mechanical engineer , scientist and university professor .

Career

Peter Eberhard studied mechanical engineering at the University of Stuttgart and graduated in 1991 with a degree in engineering. From 1992 to 1996 Eberhard was a research assistant at the Institute for Technical and Computational Mechanics at the University of Stuttgart. In 1995 he was a visiting scientist at the Argonne National Laboratory . Eberhard received his doctorate in 1996 from the University of Stuttgart. From 1996 to 1997 he did a research stay at the University of California . From 1996 to 2000 Eberhard was a scientific assistant for mechanics at the University of Stuttgart and completed his habilitation there in 2000. From 2000 to 2002 he was professor for technical mechanics and system dynamics at the Friedrich-Alexander-University . Eberhard has been full professor for technical and numerical mechanics at the University of Stuttgart since 2002. In 2007 he was a founding member of the Stuttgart Research Center "Simulation Technology (SimTech)".

Research priorities

These range from multi-body dynamics to mechatronics and biomechanics.

Prizes and awards

In 2000 Eberhard received the Richard von Mises Prize from the Society for Applied Mathematics and Mechanics . In 2007 he was awarded an honorary professorship (Prof. Eh) by the Nanjing University of Science and Technology .
