Peter F. Schneider (director)

Peter Frederik Schneider (born July 29, 1942 in Karlsbad ; † December 1999 in Marktheidenfeld ) was a German photographer, director, producer and filmmaker.

Life

Schneider's parents were both photographers. He attended secondary school in Würzburg until he graduated from high school. During this time he made his first short films. He then completed training in photography and optics in Nuremberg at the Morlock company. He was a lifelong photographer at Foto Studio Schneider in Marktheidenfeld . His cinematic work began with 16mm films and first contacts with the International Short Film Festival in Oberhausen . During his apprenticeship he attended evening courses in oil painting at the Academy of Fine Arts at the Zabo in Nuremberg . He then studied directing and cinematography at the FAMU film school in Prague . During this time he took am twiceFilm Festival in Mannheim . From 1968 to 1970 he was co-producer with the INMUS music publisher in Munich and made three of his own feature films. He was responsible for the script, editing, camera and direction.

From 1970 he was a lecturer in 16 theses at the Munich Film and Television Academy and was then an editor at BR with several features. In 1976 the own production "Der Stromtreiber" followed , the premiere of which took place at the Berlinale . Invitations to festivals in Moscow and Turin followed. Schneider had exhibitions in painting and photography in Würzburg, Frankfurt and Berlin. In 1984 he staged "The Beloved Voice (La voix humaine) by Jean Cocteau with Helga Sommerfeld , the premiere was on March 28, 1984 in the Chambinzki Theater in Würzburg. In 1989 he founded and directed the Summer Academy at Homburg Castle and in 1991 in Wertheim in Franconia .
