Peter Friedrich Arndt

Peter Friedrich Arndt (born August 23, 1817 in Treptow an der Rega , † August 2, 1866 in Berlin ) was a German mathematician.

Life

Arndt studied mathematics and education at the University of Greifswald . After successfully completing his studies, he got a job as a senior teacher at the Stralsund grammar school .

From 1854 Arndt worked as a private lecturer at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Berlin , where he was promoted to extraordinary professor of mathematics in 1862. He published his scientific work almost exclusively in scientific journals, including in the Archives of Mathematics and Physics or the Journal for Pure and Applied Mathematics .

In addition to algebraic analysis, Arndt mainly dealt with integral calculus and number theory .

At the age of 48, Peter Friedrich Arndt died of cholera on August 2, 1866 in Berlin .
