Peter's work consisted in completing and restoring old buildings, so it was typical of historicism . His professional high point was his appointment as master builder in Aachen.
The neo-baroque brick church of St. Matthias in Herzogenrath -Berensberg was built according to Peter's designs in 1889 and in 1891/92 the baroque facade of St. Michael zu Aachen was extensively restored and supplemented with Aachen bluestone , as was the church of St. Cornelius in Lamersdorf during the same period .
In Burtscheid (today in Aachen), according to his plans, the St. Michael Burscheid church was expanded from 1891 to 1900 by a west yoke with a tower built in neo-baroque shapes and with bluestone cornices, and then from 1901 to 1903 the new construction of the Marienkapelle Burtscheid took place.
