Peter Gemein (born September 14, 1963 ) is a former German soccer player who played 65 second division games for FC Remscheid .

Career

The offensive player Gemein was active in amateur football as a young adult and joined the former Bundesliga club MSV Duisburg in the run-up to the 1987/88 season . With the club he played in the third-class Oberliga Nordrhein for promotion back to the 2nd Bundesliga , but could not fight for a regular place in an offensive around players like Michael Tönnies . After a year with eight games and three goals of his own, he left the club.

In the summer of 1989 he signed with BVL 08 Remscheid , which also played in the Oberliga Nordrhein. A year later, after its merger with local rivals BV 08 Lüttringhausen to form FC Remscheid, he was taken over into the team of the newly founded club. In 1991 he was promoted to the northern group of the 2nd Bundesliga, which was carried out temporarily in two seasons due to the integration of the East German clubs. On July 23, 1991, Gemein made his second division debut in a 2: 5 defeat against Blau-Weiß 90 Berlin and thus made the leap into professional football. In the following period he was regularly called up, scored a total of seven goals and only missed several games in a row due to a red card suspension. Ultimately, he stayed with the promotion team in the league, which was to be played again in 1992/93 with 24 teams. Since a reduction in the league was due, seven relegated teams were planned and Remscheid had to assert himself in the relegation battle with his participation. As the undisputed regular player, he did not miss a game, but did not come with his team above the 23rd place in the table and had to accept relegation as a result. This ended his professional career with eleven goals after 65 second division games. He then remained loyal to FC Remscheid until 1996.

He ended his career as a player-coach in the amateur field. Clubs were u. a. GKSC Hürth, BC Berrenrath and SpVg Frechen 20 .

In addition, Gemein still plays for the traditional Bayer 04 Leverkusen team today .
