Peter Hein (rower)

Peter Hein (born December 18, 1943 in Anklam ) is a former rower from the GDR.

The 1.82 m tall Hein rowed for TSC Berlin and later for SC Berlin-Grünau . He won four GDR championship titles with the eighth : 1963, 1964, 1966 and 1967. In 1966 he rowed the GDR eighth to third place at the World Championships in Bled . At the Olympic Games in 1968 he missed the A final with the eighth and finished seventh overall. In 1969, Hein switched to the four-man with helmsman and won the silver medal behind the BRD four-man at the European Championships in Klagenfurt, the four-man rode in the line-up of Peter Hein, Jörg Lucke , Heinz-Jürgen Bothe , Klaus-Dieter Bähr and helmsman Hartmut Wenzel . In 1971 and 1972, Hein and Dieter Hinrichsen took second place twice in the GDR championships in two without a helmsman .
