Peter Heller (documentary filmmaker)
Peter Heller (* 1946 in Prague ) is a German documentary filmmaker and producer .
Peter Heller graduated from the University of Television and Film in Munich. After working for television in Latin America and Asia, he began making documentaries in Germany as an independent writer, director and producer. An important part of his work documents problems that have arisen in Africa. Above all, however, dealing with German culture and society is his topic: “We should go through the slums of Lagosspeak, but don't forget those from Cologne. We have to talk about ourselves with a desire to discover reality. ”Many of Heller's films have received international awards, recognitions and awards. Retrospectives in Amsterdam, Munich, Calcutta, Atlanta, Chicago, Washington and on the cultural channel "eins plus" have been dedicated to his documentary filmmaking. He received the highest European television award, the “ Prix Europa ”, in 1998 together with Sylvie Banuls .
