Peter Holten

Peter Holten (born November 25, 1816 in Copenhagen , Denmark ; † September 27, 1897 there ) was bailiff of the Faroe Islands from 1861 to 1871 .

Peter Holten was the son of Anne Sophie Nicoline, née Kramer and Mathias von Holten from Copenhagen. He was married to Marie Christiane, née Thornam.

After graduating from high school in 1834, he took his legal exam in 1840 and worked from 1841 to 1858 at the Øresund Customs Chamber . In 1861 he went to the Faroe Islands and was there until 1871 bailiff (governor) and in this capacity also chairman of the Løgting . From 1864 to 1866 he was also a member of Parliament in Landsting, Denmark . From 1871 to 1894 he was finally the bailiff of Bornholm .
