Mons. Gérard Pettipas CSsR (born September 6, 1950 in Halifax , Nova Scotia, Canada ) is Archbishop of Grouard-McLennan in Canada.

Life

Pettipas received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Holy Redeemer Redemptorist College in Windsor in 1971 . He began studying theology at the Redemptorist Formation House in Côte des Neige in Montreal (Quebec) (1971–1972). He made his first profession in the Redemptorist Congregation on August 15, 1977 and was ordained a priest on May 7, 1977 .

Ordained a priest , he was Vicar in St. Teresa Parish in St. John's, Newfoundland (1977–1978), Vocational and Youth Director and Assistant Director of Education at Gerard House in Toronto, Ontario (1978–1980), Master of Novices in Holy Redeemer College in Windsor, Ontario (1981–1987), member of the People's Mission Team in the Provincial House in Toronto, Rector of the Holy Redeemer College Retreat Residence in Toronto (1990–1992), Pastor and Rector of St. Patrick's in Toronto (1995 –1999) and since 1999 pastor of St. Joseph's parish in Grande Prairie, Alberta.

Pettipas was named Archbishop of Grouard-McLennan on November 30, 2006 after his predecessor, Arthé Guimond, retired after reaching retirement age. He was ordained bishop by the Apostolic Nuncio in Canada, Archbishop Luigi Ventura , on January 25 of the following year. Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Mackenzie-Fort Smith , Denis Croteau OMI , and the Bishop of Whitehorse , Gary Gordon .
