Peter Hurford
Peter Hurford (born November 22, 1930 in Minehead , Somerset , † March 3, 2019 ) was a British organist and composer .
Life
Hurford studied both music and law at Jesus College , Cambridge, and successfully completed both courses. In particular, he emerged as an organist. His interpretations of works by Johann Sebastian Bach are particularly well known; he recorded the entire organ works by Bach on CD. From 1958 to 1978 he was organist and choirmaster at St Albans Abbey . In 1963 he founded the St Albans International Organ Festival . From 1980 to 1982 he was President of the Royal College of Organists.
