Peter Isler

Peter Isler (* December 24, 1847 ; † January 2, 1921 ; authorized to reside in Wagenhausen ) was a Swiss professional officer ( corps commander ).

Life

Isler worked as a secondary teacher before he joined the Swiss Army in 1870 , where he worked as an instructor . He was an officer in the general staff from 1875 and was promoted to colonel in 1888 . In 1896 he worked as head of training for the infantry and from 1904 to 1920 held the position of chief of arms for the infantry.

From 1901 to 1905 he commanded the 1st Division and in 1909 was the commander of the 4th Army Corps . After Arthur Techtermann's death in the same year, he took over the leadership of the 1st Army Corps and held this position until 1912.

In the general election of August 3, 1914 , he was considered one of four candidates. Due to his old age compared to the other candidates, he had no chance to be elected general . He took a pro-France position during the First World War .
